Math

What were the main mathematical concepts or ideas that you learned or that we discussed in class?
I learnt how to do some basic shapes using only a string.

What questions do you still have about?
I want to know how they made a pyramid with only a piece of string.

What did you enjoy during class?
I enjoyed doing the string shape activity with my class. I also enjoyed playing mathlethics in my Chromebook.

Critical Literacy


What am I learning?

I am learning the meanings of each word.

How does this work show my learning?

I made a crossword to show my learning because I need to know what every word meant to answer the crossword.

1. Taylors Mistake


Who is he?
Taylor is the Captain of the Volga


What did he contribute to New Zealand?
Captain Taylor mistook the Bay’s identity anchored in the bay.
Captain Taylor was then announced guilty for a navigational mistake in the bay.
In the cause of the Volga’s incident which is then named the bay as “ Taylor mistake”.


2. Godley
Who is he?
He is the founder of Canterbury


3. Godley Head


What?
Godley Head was a WW2 coastal defence battery that was built in a 120-metre high cliff in 1939.


Why?
To look out for the Russians and Japanese people


4. D.O.C
Kiwi Guardian
  • Travel back in time to the dark days of WWII when an invasion of New Zealand seemed likely –  Stand in a concrete Observation Post and look out for enemy ships. 
  • Pack a picnic – there are a lot of great spots.
  • Start the trip from Taylors Mistake and make a day of it – complete with sand and surf on your way home.

Godley Head -
There is an adventure map you have to download and use it to look for the Guardian Post.
On it is a special code word that you have to write down.
After finding the code you can tell the D.O.C what is written and claim the rewards.
