Magazine Art

What have you been doing?

In Art, we have been creating our own magazine pages and putting them all together into one magazine. My class were given an opportunity to choose which topic we want to base our pages on. My group and I chose to work on the introduction of our magazine. The photo above is what we've created but it's not finished yet.

Does your design reflect your thumbnail sketches so far?

Yes, I think my group's work reflects our thumbnail sketches. It reflects our thumbnail sketches by combining different layouts into one artwork.

Do you know where your leading lines are?

Our leading line is the blue line going across the pages, leading the viewers to see our focal point.

Do you know what your focal point is?

Our focal point is the three artwork on the left page of what my group and I had created using Sonja Terk Delauney's artwork as our inspiration.

Lino Cutting

LO: To learn Orphism and colour theory and using them to put into lino.

The middle and the bottom photo are my thumbnails. My first one was the middle photo but I later changed it by adding two circles at the bottom right. My focal point is the oval with a curving line in the middle and the two circles on the bottom right. My leading lines are the 4 lines coming out from the focal point

Guess What's My Focal Point

What is my focal point?

My focal point is the bird in the right corner and the figure with the birds in the middle.

What are my leading lines?

My leading lines are shown below.

What can I improve on?

I can improve on taking the middle photo back to be able to see the bird as my focal point first then the middle photo. I can do this by painting over the middle photo.

Peer Critique

My classmate commented on my work asking me why does my bird only has one leg.

I answered his question by adding another leg for my bird.

Art - Tones

Learning Intention:

Learning the techniques required to make our ideas come alive.

Have you improved with shading?

I think I've improved with shading because I didn't know how to do a proper shade before doing art.

Do you understand that using a structure can help you draw better (light loose lines under your work)?

I think I understand that using a structure can help me draw better because I can see where I'm going to draw the specific parts of my drawing.

What are you going to work on going forward in pencil drawing in and out of class?

I am going to work on drawing more shapes and use tones.
