Camera shots and angles are used effectively in the film 'Hunger Games'. For example, in the scene after the tribute parade where first see the character of President Snow. Gary Ross uses a combination of over the shoulder and high angle with an extreme long shot to show Snow addressing the crowd. This makes us understand that Snow is a powerful individual in the Capitol as everyone is listening to him. The purpose of this is to show Snow's supremacy among the people in the Capitol and the tributes. Coinciding with this, the use of setting shows a special place above others for Snow and below for the tributes. This can be juxtaposed to the scene later in the film where Katniss and Peeta reclaimed power by threatening to eat the poisonous berries in the arena.

In the film 'Hunger Games' camera angles and shots are used to portray different scenes. For example, in the scene, after Primrose got picked as a tribute for the 'Hunger Games', Katniss volunteered to take her sister's place. Later that scene, Katniss' was then appointed to go the stage and face the people of District 12. During this scene, Gary Ross uses a mixture of dutch tilt, low angle, and mid shot to show Katniss is out of place. This makes the audience feel that Katniss is helpless and alone. The purpose of this is to show that Katniss is vulnerable. Combined with Katniss' facial expression, it presumed the audience her vulnerability to being chosen as a tribute for the 'Hunger Games'. This can be juxtaposed later in the film where Katniss showed her bravery by killing another tribute with her bow and arrow.
